Made In House

Fast Frankie

Fast Frankie is a 3D, fast-paced infinite runner with a low-poly, kid-friendly, and colorful aesthetic, available on all mobile devices.

The inspiration

Franklin Street Social is a pillar of the Red Lion, Pennsylvania, community, acting not only as a place to eat delicious food from locally owned restaurants, but as a space for great entertainment and fun social activities.

It was only natural that such an amazing place inspired us. Partnering with Jordan Ilyes, we adapted Franklin Street Social's signature and iconic New York City style, and the restaurant stalls within, into a video game.

The game

Play as Frankie, mascot of Franklin Street Social, world-famous food critic, and local celebrity. Avoid the prying eyes and cameras of the paparazzi while running, jumping, and sliding through the food hall-themed city!

The goals

With Fast Frankie our primary goal was to engage the Franklin Street Social community. We wanted to bring the regulars a fun, themed game that expanded the Franklin Street Social aesthetic into the digital space, and allowed them to play levels based on the real restaurants they frequent.

Additionally, we wanted to make a reward system for Franklin Street Social: one that gave players real-life rewards redeemable at the Franklin Street Social restaurants, enabling players to earn through their high scores and mastery of the game.

With this game and reward system, our secondary goal was to grow Franklin Street Social's digital footprint, creating a platform for people who live further away to interact with Franklin Street Social from a distance and even create incentive to visit for the first time.

The installation

The capstone of this project was a physical installation at Franklin Street Social. Twin screens, mounted side-by-side on a wall, with Fast Frankie decals and a custom LED sign brought the game to life. With two screens, two people could play at once, creating a fun and competitive experience only available at Franklin Street Social. This turned the digital game into a physical location.

What we made

What we created: a themed game that adapted Franklin Street Social's aesthetic through our Made In House style, packaged with a novel reward system that allowed players to earn real rewards, redeemable at Franklin Street Social. And to top it off, a physical installation that gave people a place to play Fast Frankie right in the center of the establishment that inspired this whole project: Franklin Street Social.
